Derbyshire County Council provides most of the local public services, including education, social services, footpaths (rights of way), public transport and libraries. In 2011-12, about 74 pence in every £ of Council tax will go to DCC. This amounts to a total of £56,750,000.
In the Amber Valley Borough Council budget for 2011-12, about 10 pence in every £ of Council Tax will go to AVBC. This amounts to a total of £7,668,000. This covers:
- the following main services, showing the approximate Net expenditure for each: Council Housing (£552,000), Housing Benefits (£53,000), Highways, Roads and Transport (£1,227,000), Refuse Collection (£2,952,000), Environmental Services (£1,625,000), Planning & Development Services (£1,352,000), Cultural & Recreational Services (£2,326,000), Central Services (£4,336,000)
- £1,421,000 allocated to all the Parish Councils in the borough. These funds, known as Precepts, enable the Parish Councils to provide services within the parishes. See here for the Dethick, Lea and Holloway precept.
The Derbyshire Police Authority receives about 11 pence in every £ of Council Tax (£54,300,000) and the Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Authority receives about 4 pence in every £ raised (£22,800,000).
