Changing Street Lighting in Derbyshire

To help save carbon and cash, Derbyshire County Council has initiated a programme across the county to turn off some lights between midnight and 5:30 am. Full details of this plan are available here. In their preliminary survey, DCC obtained 842 responses with more than 60% in favour of the plans.

Details of the specific plans for Dethick Lea and Holloway, showing the location of every street light in the Parish, are available as follows:

  • on line on the DCC website  here
  • the paper plans can be consulted either at Mayfield Stores or at Amber Valley Borough Council in Ripley

The plans are due to be implemented across the county over the next year. For DLH this will be in July 2012.

DCC has also started a consultation on these plans and would welcome everyone’s views and comments. The easiest way to make your comments is directly on the DLH page of the DCC website. You can also write to Street Lights, Derbyshire County Council, County Hall, Matlock, DE4 3AG. The closing date for comments is 17 June 2012.

I.C.E. In Case of Emergency
Store the word “ICE” in your mobile phone address book, and against it enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted “In Case of Emergency”.

In an emergency situation, the police, ambulance and hospital staff will then be able to quickly find out who your next of kin are and be able to contact them. It’s as simple as that, and for more than one contact name you can use ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc.
